Randy R North Bend , WA February 08, 2015 Appliance: Model KITCHEN AID KUDP01LBL2 Bad heater element in dishwasher Replaced element, but new one had higher current rating requiring changeout of control circuit board making price much higher than for element alone. Note that this was with every parts dealer for this machine. Changing circuit board was easy, am former techie, hard part was getting access to rear of dishwasher. Due to design of kitchen I ended up removing back of peninsula cabinet instead of pulling machine out. Really hard part was getting my 66 year old knees to cooperate. Did have a small issue with heater not being exactly square to last bend where it goes through bottom of machine, had to tighten a bit more when small drip occurred during first load. But dishes are now clean, and run time is no longer 3 hours! Kelly D Mount Airy , MD June 13, 2014 Appliance: KitchenAid Undercounter Dishwasher KUDS01FLSS1 The dishwasher leaked and did not heat properly Replaced the heating element, the control board, and the rubber gaskets. After two weeks of running once per day, the dishwasher is running like new again. Some tips: 1. Consider replacing the plastic nuts that secure the heating element, as a damaged heating element may have melted the threads. Hand tighten, then about a 1/4 turn with an adjustable wrench. 2. Getting to the control board required removing all Torx #15 screws from the door, not just the 6 securing the controls at the top. Should have worn gloves as the underside of back has sharp metal parts. Got sliced while screwing on the nuts to the new heating element. Bruce B Hampton , VA July 17, 2015 Appliance: Model 665.16594201 Kenmore elite dishwasher would stop and the clean light would blink 7 times The problem was intermittent. After resetting and rewashinging the dishes for about a year I replaced the heating element and control board (heating element kit). The frame under the dishwasher has some razor sharp edges. After 5 cuts, I know why the guy in the video wore gloves. The plastic nuts on the heater came off easy but were hard to screw back on, I used a socket and was careful not to overtighten. My hardest problem was pulling the dishwasher out of the cabinet. I disconnected a lot of stuff that I didn't need too.
