Robert G Richmond , VA January 15, 2018 Appliance: Model MAYTAG MAV6451AWW ATLANTIS VINTAGE 2002 Severe vibration during washer spin cycle. I followed the Appliance Parts Pro's advice videos for the Maytag MAV6451AWW Atlantis washer on replacing the snubber ring and the suspension springs. Everything went just fine except replacing the two rear most suspension springs. None of the videos illustrated REINSTALLING the REAR springs which is extremely difficult because you can't get enough leverage with your arm extended. Observing my frustration, my wife recommended taking off the back side. You can't simply take off the back, because the right and left sides and the back are one piece. LESSON LEARNED: Follow the video to remove the front, then use duct tape to secure the lid to the left and right sides, and then remove ALL the screws around the base after removing the pump, motor and all hoses including the small water level sensing hose attached to the left rear of the tub. Make sure the motor wiring harness is unhitched from the base clip. Put on gloves because the edges are sharp, and then get your wife to help lift the remainder of the frame up and off the base. This makes removing the suspension springs and replacing them a piece of cake. Doing this originally would have saved hours of frustration. Todd C Forsyth , IL May 26, 2020 Appliance: Model MAYT236AWW My 15 year old Maytag was wobbling off balance during the spin cycle. I Googled my model number and your extremely helpful site had the part selector saying the snubber ring was (IIRC) 52% likely to be my problem and the springs 27% likely. I ordered both in the hopes that if I ordered by noon the parts could arrive the following afternoon before the weekend (they were). You provided a video of the repair using my exact washer and it was possible for me to perform the repair safely and effectively, I was very pleased and would recommend you to anyone Read More... 6 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers, Wrench Set
Bina K Potomac , MD October 26, 2018 Knocking sound in washing and spinning cycle. We were told by a repair person from Sears that one of the suspension spring needed to be replaced. After receiving the parts, another repair person opened the front and back panels but found no damage. He lubricated all the springs and so far the washer seems to be doing fine. We have all the springs still in original package. Wendy B Clifton Springs , NY December 08, 2014 Appliance: Maytag Atlantis Washer MAV9600EWW Excess vibration during spin redistributing load did not solve problem Replaced 6 spring. did not use suspension spring hooks that I purchased. I did not open washer up before I ordered the parts, only 3 suspension hooks are required, I purchased 6, but none were broken when I disassembled washer and looked inside. Also, upon reassemble had soft foot condition and could not resolve through self leveling so I put wood shim beneath one foot.
