Stephanie F Flushing , MI June 26, 2015 Appliance: Admiral Gas Dryer ADG7000AWW Maytag dryer motor pulley broke I put the new motor pulley on and re-attached the belt. I watched a crap ton of YouTube videos and performed what the professionals did. I ate food before the repair so my body would perform as a top ranked athlete. Clark M Larkspur , CO December 09, 2019 15 year old motor After researching a new dryer, and finding out how expensive and lower-quality they have become, I elected to rebuild our fifteen-year-old high-end Maytag dryer. I replaced the motor, the idler assembly, the wheel bearings, and glides. The total cost was about $300 and it took about 2 hours total. It's running like a top now and is essentially rebuilt. This was a much better outcome than purchasing a new dryer and trashing the old one. I would rate my skillset as high, but I don't see why anyone couldn't research how to do this and accomplish it on their own. The AppliancePartsPros videos, YouTube, and other sources total research time about 20 or 30 minutes. I highly recommend you consider doing this if your dryer motor fails.
