Clark M Larkspur , CO December 09, 2019 15 year old motor After researching a new dryer, and finding out how expensive and lower-quality they have become, I elected to rebuild our fifteen-year-old high-end Maytag dryer. I replaced the motor, the idler assembly, the wheel bearings, and glides. The total cost was about $300 and it took about 2 hours total. It's running like a top now and is essentially rebuilt. This was a much better outcome than purchasing a new dryer and trashing the old one. I would rate my skillset as high, but I don't see why anyone couldn't research how to do this and accomplish it on their own. The AppliancePartsPros videos, YouTube, and other sources total research time about 20 or 30 minutes. I highly recommend you consider doing this if your dryer motor fails. 3 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours
