Whirlpool 4386996A Impeller OEM Part

Ordered the replacement pump seal kit from AppliancePartsPros. I watched the online how-to video on their website. The impeller was slightly stuck on the motor shaft due to age but overall was amazed at how easy it was to repair. Thanks AplianePartsPros!

With the exception of the chalk outline my wife drew on the floor indicating where the water was coming from, my experience was nearly identical to the other folks who commented on this repair. The most difficult part was unscrewing the plastic retainer above the impeller. Years of soap and or calcium deposits seemed to lock it in place. It eventually broke loose after applying slow steady pressure to the vanes in the plastic piece. The old impeller was another challenge. Had to destroy it to get it out as it was seized on the motor shaft. Note: if you need to do the same, be sure to vacuum any debris from the housing. Don't want anything to ruin the new seals! Realistically it took about an hour and a half to diagnose the problem, watch the excellent video, disassemble the pump and order the parts. Parts were ordered on a Saturday, arrived on Tuesday.Within a half hour everything was back together and working fine. (for a 20+ year old Dishwasher)

After researcching the problem and watching the repair video, I ordered the parts from AppliancePartsPros on a Monday and had them delivered to my door on Tuesday via standard shipping (exceeding my expectations and beating your average time by a day)! Had some difficulty removing the original impeller (the dishwasher is 19 years old). But after breaking it apart and shaving off the old one with a chisel had it back together in under an hour.
