Mark H Manassas , VA February 07, 2019 Appliance: Maytag Top Loading Washer A512S Leak on upper left side of 30yr old Maytag washer. I noticed a lot of water on the floor one day. I had no idea where it came from (all pipes in the area near the stationary tub were dry, there was a small wet spot near the washer, but most of the water was more than 2ft from it). Started a small load and noticed water running down the outside of the unit. Immediately stopped the cycle and removed the front of the washer. Restarted the cycle and could see water spraying from the intake hose. Stopped the cycle and advanced it to spin to remove all the water water in the tub. Removed the 2 screws holding the top on and slid the top to the right enough to get to the hose. Removed screw attaching the hose to the side panel. Removed clamp holding hose to the intake unit. Twisted the end of the hose attached to the tub counter-clockwise (took some force, but it came out. NOTE: I probably should have turned this clockwise as it may have come out easier). Ordered parts...came in a few days and reinstalled. Attaching the end to the tub took some time as it did not seem to want to go back on the opposite of how I took it off (I felt reversing the process and turning it clockwise would work...it didn't). Turns out I needed to turn it counterclockwise. Clamped the other end to the intake unit and screwed the hose to the unit. Attached the top and started a cycle to make sure there were no leaks and reattached the front. A very simple fix any do it yourselfer can take on. Note: I may have been able to get by with purchasing just a portion of the this intake hose, but chose to order the entire assembly as it wasn't that much and the hose was 30yrs old. I'm very happy with this solution and process of finding and ordering this part from Appliance Parts Pros was very easy. I tried a few other sites, but couldn't find the entire assembly and their prices were much higher. Appliance Parts Pros was the best and cheapest I found. Melissa R Pace , FL July 03, 2015 Appliance: Model MAYTAG LA512 Washer was leaking water at intake hose I was able to easily remove the front panel of the washing machine with two screws and the top with two more screws. With these for removed the top tilted open easily and I was able to access the water intake hose. Just two clamps and one screw later the part was installed and water was no longer leaking. Very easy repair and a 30 year old washing machine is back to work. Charlotteanne Y Kingston , IL August 06, 2018 Pretty much everything Here's the story. All my appliances except the dryer broke. Yeah. talk about bad luck. First I tried to fix the refrigerator. Replaced both motherboard and inverter board. Now it wakes up but the compressor does not kick in. Need another part. The washer, well I have to pull out the sink to get enough room to pull out the washer to fix it. Since the refriigerator is still in the middle of the kitchen, I don't need to tear apart another room. Nevertheless, let me say this, I love my "older" appliances and I am not ready to give up. Tearing apart the washer on a Saturday afternoon is just fun to me. So far all I did was replace an inlet device I bought a while ago. I need to replace the injector hose yet but the leaking is almost gone. But the great thing about appliance parts pros is they keep the model # on record. It was long gone off of my Maytag when I first needed a part and I had to do some internet research to figure out a reasonable guess and what I ordered fit so, yay! I'll just tell the other customers; do it! My kids watched me fix stuff in their growing up years. One tore apart his bathroom to remodel it. The other graduated from engineering school. I'd say one repair begets 3 successes. Buy the way, I also needed a mirror to see behind the machine.and the 2 hours was mostly climbing around the sink to get behind the washer.
