Paul Q Bacliff , TX January 18, 2021 Appliance: Whirlpool Laundry, Commercial, Washer CAE2745FQ0 Latch lid switch strike & possible main board. OK this is one of those stories that can't help but encourage those of us who have absolutely no idea how appliances work and yet by simply refusing to pay such ridiculous repair prices can honestly get it done with a "FRACTION" of the cost. So here is my story & the scary unknown(s) BUT the incredible help offered to me to successfully win the ( I won't allow you to take advantage of me ) anymore conclusion. I had a 2 1/2-year-old Maytag coin wash machine that just quit working; after playing with it for some time I gave up like most people and called a Qualified repairman for diagnosis and repair. When he finished his assessment, he informed me that the repair would be $700.00! My first thought was - your out of your mind if you think I'm going to fork-out that kind of money for a simple repair job that would cover the cost of ( at least 1/2 the price ) of a new machine with a 2-year warranty. So at it I went, 1st I took the 3 parts he told me that need to be replaced, 2ndly I needed to find a DIY company who could supply the parts BUT who also offered to support you as you went through the learning curve if you needed it - and I did. I searched the almighty web and fumbled across AppliancePartsPros. So I took a quick gander of their support and settled on the traditional "let's take a chance" on what was being said in the way of pricing and support - mainly the support but the pricing was the cherry thrown-in! In my case, I took a bit of a gamble because while talking to the technician I thought I just might not need the 3rd item ( the mainboard and the most expensive of the 3 parts that were said needing to be replaced). This came about by the description of the problem I described and went ahead and ordered the other 2 items for just under $100.00. When I received them I was pretty anxious because I have never touched an appliance repair attempt but as it turned out, the computerization of these items ( at first a bit daunting in thought that I needed to be tech-savvy ) turned out to be so darn simple, I can't truly state the personal pleasure and confidence I gained by doing it myself and saving $600.00 dollars for simply trying it. When I followed the directions for removing and replacing the 2 parts, I held my breath and tried to start the washing machine; as you might expect - it light-up and looked as though it was going to work but it didn't. Now in my case, I either had not received the owner's manual or a tech sheet or misplaced them, so I had absolutely nothing to refer to for assistance. So here comes the real test, can I really get help from the company I bought these parts from? I placed a call and to my surprise, I was told that the washer(s) of today need to be programmed after this type of repair and it required a tech sheet to walk me through this setup; since I didn't have one the simply emailed it to me and so I printed it out. I truthfully spoke to the folks at Appliance Parts & Pro 3 times, twice for their support & once to tell them, I owed them lunch and a BIG thanks because it took under 1 minute to program my washer and it was back-up and working like new. Interesting to note, the entire group of folks that work here were the nicest, easiest, friendliest, non-hurried I have rarely encountered in the "let me hold your hand dept". So if your a bit afraid or intimidated, welcome to the club but more likely than not if you're bold enough to try the repair job yourself, chances are you're going to succeed because you have REAL support to Quickly and thank goodness Simply hold your hand through completion -like mine. In reflection, it sure beat the cost of $700.00 and now I have more than a bit of serious confidence that will go into my next troubleshooting and repair challenges and done by yours truly!
