Doug H Los Angeles , CA June 23, 2017 Appliance: Whirlpool Washer-Dryer Laundry System LTG5243DQ3 Dryer continued running after opening the door Bought a replacement door switch. To remove and install, swing control panel down by pulling down the spring-loaded screws on each end of the control panel. Unplug door switch plug. Remove two exposed screws in the door switch and pull switch out through open control panel. Wiring may be pushed behind a cover but they can be easily pulled out. If your hands are small enough you should be able to fit the new switch back into place. Install two screws, plug in switch, stuff wires behind cover. Swing control panel back into place. An easy repair overall, but if your hands are large you may need to remove dryer front cover.
