Robert M Metairie , LA December 25, 2016 Appliance: Amana Refrigerator ARS266ZBW Evaporator fan stopped working The fan has a very thin wire in it's coil, and when that wire breaks, you need a new fan. In a previous repair, i noticed that an ice build-up had dislodged the wiring on my fan and severed the coil winding. I was able to undo the winding a couple of turns and get it working again. But more recently, the fan stopped and there was no repairing it. So i ordered a new fan from AppliancePartsPros.com and it got here in very good time. The new fan was slightly different as the prongs seemed to be on the opposite side of the assembly, but i just reversed the blue and the black wires from there original orientation and it works just fine. The only thing truly worth noting about this particular repair is that the original fan has a rubber grommet on both the top and the bottom of the fan. You will need to transfer these two grommets to the new fan in order to complete the reassembly. So, if you already threw away the old fan before the new one has arrived, you might maybe better go out and stop the garbage truck before it is too late.... But yeah, the grommets sit on the bottom of the motor and on the shaft that you reattach your fan to. On a side note, while waiting for the replacement motor to arrive, i discovered that i was easily able to take the two power supply wires and insert there prong clips onto a regular house hold fan to keep the air circulating until my replacement motor arrived. This was all accomplished this week, so i can not verify the durability of the replacement motor as of yet.(but it is quite solid and well constructed) Read More... 33 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers

William M Maricopa , AZ August 07, 2015 Appliance: Whirlpool Refrigerator GX5FHTXTB00 Whirlpool french door refrigerator was running continuously Whirlpool tech stated it was the main control board, he changed it twice over a 2 week period and it was still running. The tech stated this was "normal", I felt otherwise, so I noticed that it was not the compressor, but the evaporator fan that was running all the time. I tried changing the settings to a warmer temperature and this did not stop the running. I figured it was either a bad thermistor or the evaporator motor not circulating the air correctly. I bought both parts and changed them out, it took about 1hr total and the fridge is back to normal. The parts arrived in a couple of days from ordering and the videos online helped locate the areas where the parts were located in the fridge. Nicholas Deem D Canton , OH June 06, 2014 My freezer was cold but the fridge was not the reason was the fan in the freezer wasn't kicking on to cool the refrigerator Very simple to fix. Instead of spending $100.00 just to get someone to look at the problem this site helped me diagnose and fix the issue. The motor to the fan that pushes the air to the fridge from the freezer was delivered the day they said it would be. Within 20 minutes of getting the package my refrigerator was running again the way it should. Thanks again AppliancePartsPros.com!
