How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6015419 / WPW10128551 Refrigerator Evaporator Fan Motor

Replaced the circulator fan in the back of the freezer drawer that pushes the cold air up to the refrigerator. I was able to keep the fridge cold until I did the repair by forcing the flap open in the back of the fridge. 

Whirlpool tech stated it was the main control board, he changed it twice over a 2 week period and it was still running. The tech stated this was "normal", I felt otherwise, so I noticed that it was not the compressor, but the evaporator fan that was running all the time. I tried changing the settings to a warmer temperature and this did not stop the running. I figured it was either a bad thermistor or the evaporator motor not circulating the air correctly. I bought both parts and changed them out, it took about 1hr total and the fridge is back to normal. The parts arrived in a couple of days from ordering and the videos online helped locate the areas where the parts were located in the fridge. 

Very simple to fix. Instead of spending $100.00 just to get someone to look at the problem this site helped me diagnose and fix the issue. The motor to the fan that pushes the air to the fridge from the freezer was delivered the day they said it would be. The refrigerator was warm but the freezer was cold. Turn off the refrigerator for 24 hours. Plugged the refrigerator back in, the compressor was not kicking on but the condenser fan and evaporator fan were running. Pulled start relay, measured between two bottom points found Open.. replaced start relay and capacitor and compressor stared immediately and everything worked normally. 

I was ready to buy a new refrigerator for $1200 then decided to go on line to see if I could find a fix. Found your website and the fan motor that I needed. Watched the video on your site which showed me how to install. The $50 fan arrived in two days and the repair was a snap. Thanks for your help and saving me $1150. ME PROUD!

We have an older Amana fridge that we've quite enjoyed. The other night I noticed that the fridge was warmer than usual. I did some research online, and after realizing that the freezer was working fine, I ended up determining that the evaporator fan motor was bad. For anyone troubleshooting an older Amana it's good to know that they have a Jazz board (mainboard). For my particular unit, there were quite a few onboard tests that you could complete. I noticed that the mode to turn on the evaporator fan did nothing when it should have. This almost sealed the deal for me that it was the evaporator fan motor, but I wanted to be certain. So, I went out and bought a multimeter to check the motor's continuity. The multimeter tests confirmed that there was indeed no continuity. Overall, not too difficult of a repair. Just go slow to not damage any evaporator fins and you'll be good to go. Always make sure the power is unplugged on your fridge while working on it! 

I obtained to model number of our fridge (Maytag), found the corresponding fan and motor in your data base, ordered the parts. A couple days later the package arrived, where upon I took apart the circulating motor panels and replaced the fan and motor as per your instruction video.
