Linda W Mt. Ulla , NC May 25, 2014 Appliance: Whirlpool Washer WFW8500SR01 The drain hose cracked and sprung a leak This hose did not just attach to the back of the washer--that would have been too easy. This hose went into the back of the washer, under the tub & attached to the pump at the front of the washer. Both the back & front of the washer had to be removed to access the hose. Luckily the crack was at an external spot where it was easily seen; unluckily my husband was out of town at the time & I had to take the washer apart & put it back together. Actually it was not that hard. Before I took the washer apart I did try to find a video to show me how, but I couldn't find not one video that related to my machine; so I just decided to jump in. It only took 2 days to get the part & then it only took me about 30 mins total, & that included moving the washer back into place. Gregory D Atascadero , CA September 23, 2014 Leaky drain hose The hardest part of the repair was discovering the source of the leak. The hose had developed a pinhole from rubbing along the rear corner. Once the source was determined, the actual repair took 5-6 minutes plus the time to pull out the washer and take off the panels. But overall a simple repair. Fortunately the part number was stamped on the connecting end to the pump in front. That allowed me to confirm the hose shown in the photo. Christopher S Momence , IL September 02, 2018 Appliance: Whirlpool Washer WFW8500SR01 Leaking washer while draining Whirlpool Sport Duet Front Load Washer Model # WFW8500SR00 Noted leak on the floor after wash cycle. Took front panel off, noted water below wash drum. Ran rinse cycle and observed leak in back right corner below drain hose during drain cycle. Very easy to order new drain hose using model number of washer. Selected economy shipping, still arrived in 3 days. While awaiting for part to arrive, watched repair video link online a couple of times. When drain hose arrived used screw gun with 1/4 inch nut driver attachment to remove back panel. Removed clamp on pump, fished out old drain hose noting half inch tear in plastic hose where drain hose leaves the washer (approximently 180 degree bend). Installed new drain hose in just a few minutes, no difficulty. Only issue was remounting rear panel took two people. Recommend getting all screws started before any tightening as there is no give or take, needs to be perfectly square. Very easy DIY project, estimated saving $150.00 Read More... 2 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Pliers
Joseph L Coplay , PA March 24, 2018 Appliance: Whirlpool Washer WTW4815EW0 My drain hose was too short Replaced it with a WPW10114608 (AP6015149) Drain Hose. This Drain Hose is about 8 feet long and did the job. I didn't need to install the Drain Hose Extension. No clamp is provided with the Drain Hose, but you can simply re-use the old clamp. Use a pliers to remove and reinstall it. I received these parts in one day (to eastern PA). Great price and fast delivery!
