Whirlpool 786324 Oven Igniter OEM Part

Replaced the igniter, Simple but there are several points to remember. TURN THE POWER OFF 1) remove the oven door or you will have a hard time reaching the back of the oven. Mine just lifted off. 2) The igniter tip is fragile put a drop cloth over the oven floor in case you drop it even after it is in its holder. 3) The drop cloth will catch screws too if you drop them so they won't fall into the oven. 4) The cable from the oven is very short even after pulling it out from the hole at the back. So try not to mess up the end of the wire so that you can connect to the igniter wires without clipping back and baring fresh wire. 5) The igniter holder may seem like it won't fit all the way back into the oven. Notice the rectangular hole in the oven back and make sure you get the back of the igniter holder aligned so it can protrude into that hole. The hole is small and the wires tend to make the holder catch on the top of the hole. 6) you my need someone to hold a flashlight as you put the igniter holder back in. 7) I needed long nose pliers to pull the wires and wire nuts into the oven from behind the rectangular hole in the back as my fingers wouldn't reach.

Replaced igniter. Unfortunately this is the third time in 4 years part has been replaced. Possibly another problem. Eventually plan on removing the wall oven and going back to a free standing stove. Took 30 mins. to replace igniter, but that included some cleaning of the oven. Part was received within 2 days of ordering, which included a Sunday. Sales Associate at Appliance parts Pros. very helpful.

I looked up oven igniter on line and watched video, very helpful, then called and a women was able to tell me that the one I looked at was the right one. She was very helpful and I appreciate that.

Purchased a new one and fixed it myself. Watched the video but my fix was entirely different. Was able to fix mine without taking the back panel off. I did everything from the front of the oven part.

Used internet to troubleshoot problem. It was interesting to find out that the gas valve safety feature was controlled by the amount of current drawn by the porcelain igniter. My igniter was glowing but was not drawing the require minimum current of 2.8 amps. Replacing the igniter resolved the problem.
