Micah J Anderson , IN March 24, 2014 Replaced a black front panel with a stainless front panel. You need to remove the entire compactor basket, so that can be a little unwieldy. There are 8 total Phillips head screws. Two on each side of the wrap-around portion of the panel, two on the bottom of the panel, and two larger screws that are used to hold the foot pedal in place. The two lower screws on the bottom of the panel also screw through the rubber stop strip on the bottom of the basket. Recommend removing the basket and then putting it somewhere where it can't do any harm with scratching and or rubbing (like a garage floor), as it has numerous sharp edges, and you don't want to tear up your tile while you shimmy parts on and off. Procedure was easy, and appliancepartspros had the part to us in literally less than 24 hours. Amazing service - probably the best in the country for parts. Their support gives you a lot of confidence to tackle projects you've been putting off. I should have done this 6 months ago. Julie S San Antonio , TX December 09, 2014 Appliance: KitchenAid Trash Compactor KUCC151EBL0 Wanted to update wood paneled compactor Removed the handle with two screws on the inside front and pulled out the custom wood panel. Pulled the compactor out from under cabinet. Tipped it over on back of unit, supporting it with a little foot stool. Unscrewed two lower screws at bottom of unit holding black trim panel (that held wood panel in place) and lower black rubber flap. Removed two screws on lower outside side of unit that held the foot pedal. Slid off black U shaped metal frame from top of compactor towards bottom. Slid on new stainless cover, putting black rubber flap between compactor door frame and new cover. Replaced lower screws, reattached foot pedal. Tipped the unit right side up and screwed in four metal screws inside of the unit, securing the new stainless cover to the front compactor door frame. Installed the handle. Pushed unit back under cupboard. While apart, cleaned all black parts and polished with ArmorAll car cleaner.
