Stephen H Gainesville , FL December 14, 2014 Appliance: Whirlpool Undercounter Dishwasher DU1055XTVQ0 Whirlpool dishwasher makes loud buzzing noise when the motor/pump runs Checked the grinder/pump well at the bottom of the dishwasher and fished out some aluminum foil, wire twist ties, broken plastic forks, etc. That was fun but it didn't solve the problem. Purchased new pump & motor assembly and installed it as per Youtube video. It requires pulling out the dishwasher, disconnecting electric, hotwater, and drain lines, and then removing a bunch of clips and connectors. That was time consuming but basically easy ... except that seating the new assembly gasket into the bottom of the dishwasher is difficult. It takes a lot of force to get it into place, and then it tends to pop out of position when you tilt the dishwasher onto its side to install the underside clips. The secret there is that you can wipe a single drop of dishwashing liquid around the gasket before you install it. This lubricates the seal and makes it much easier to seat the gasket. After that everything was basically easy. Read More... 6 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Adjustable Wrench, Pliers, Screwdrivers
Deana P Sand Lake , MI January 13, 2017 Appliance: Maytag Undercounter Dishwasher MDB8959AWS3 We heard a funny noise and then as time went by the dishwasher stopped cleaning the top rack eventually the bottom rack was not getting clean 1st we took the inside washer arms out and made sure they were clean and not blocked by something . When That failed, I called a local appliance repairman . After 2 messsges and absolutely no return call, I went on line and googled what could cause the problem. It recommended replacing the pump motor assembly . So we decided to try it. Ordered part. Came very fast . I looked up instructions on you tube and we followed this and made the repair . Dishwasher is working correct and dishes are clean again . Frustrating because the dishwasher was purchased in feb 2011 so it was not that old . I wish they made quality products . Happy parts customer . Thank you Read More... 6 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Adjustable Wrench, Pliers, Screwdrivers
Matthew S Lehi , UT May 27, 2017 Appliance: Maytag Undercounter Dishwasher MDB7759AWB3 Dishwasher was making a growling sound when spinning the sprayers Our dishwasher starting making a growling sound when it was time to turn the sprayers on. I could hear the noise was coming from below the dishwasher where the motor was. After checking the chopper (below the filter), I decided to replace the motor. That fixed the issue. The only issue I ran into during the replacement was that after putting in the motor and tipping the dishwasher back on its side, the motor would slip slightly out of place before I could get the tabs into place. Finally I held it in place while my wife put the tabs in. The dishwasher is running great now. Bruce B Waxhaw , NC July 19, 2014 Appliance: Model MAYTAG MDBTT53AWW4 Dishwasher not circulating water After I watched the APPros video that showed how to replace the circulation pump, I decided to try it. The job was not too difficult and saved us at least $100 in appliance repairman labor. My dishwasher was not exactly like the one in the video, but it wasn't hard to figure out what parts in my dishwasher corresponded to the parts in the video. I replaced the pump in about two hours one evening and then reinstalled the dishwasher in about 90 minutes the next day. My wife and I were so excited to see the dishwasher back in action. Thanks, APPros, for showing me how to do this job!
