David P Seekonk , MA February 07, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Refrigerator MTB1954ARW The refrigeration compressor wopuld not run the motor was heating up and it would open up the thermal oveload I replaced the Relay-Ptc and that solved the problem. Patrick H Walland , TN July 04, 2016 Appliance: Model MTB 1954 ARW Refrigerator stopped working Used a muiltimeter to test all parts and ohm'ed out all parts. found out condenser fan motor seized up [open winding in motor] replaced that, and found that also caused the compressor overload and relay to fail, from over heating and over cycling, replaced both parts, powered up the refrigerator retested all electrical parts checked amp reading on all parts under load conditions,works good know, hope to get another 15 years out of this refrigator, its a maytag. over 20 years old. David M Melrose Park , IL January 21, 2017 Appliance: Maytag Refrigerator MTB1955BRW Refrigerator not cooling After some research determined it was the PTC relay, probably. After removing it from the compressor there was no doubt it was bad, kind of fell apart. Ordered up the new one Friday night, shipped Monday and arrived Tuesday. This is an old fridge in the basement and I wasn't going to put a lot of money into but I can't replace it for $30.00! Runs good now. Jacqueline S New Orleans , LA December 29, 2014 Appliance: Maytag Refrigerator MTF2155BRW Part was to replace old part to kick off compressor Was easy for me a lady unplug frig took off the back took clamp off cover that cover the relay had to use screwdriver to get cover off that covered the relay I removed the relay and put new relay on and plug the red wire back on put back back plugged in frig.
