Kurt K La Center , WA September 19, 2014 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer DE312 Motor failure noisy squealing bearing followed by failure to run buzzing noise when start pressed This was a Maytag DE312 actually a Whirlpool labeled as Maytag) and is 27 years old. Replaced motor, drive belt and drum rollers. One tricky part was the motor because the new motor comes with integral starter and it was necessary to cut off existing female spade connectors on some wires and crimp on new connectors. Instructions were adequate but need to be carefully followed and a decent electrical stripping and crimping tool must be at hand. I bought a new motor drive pulley because another user indicated the hex set screw was difficult to remove and all went well. The belt installation always gives me fits but if you are patient and look carefully at the supplied instructions it can be completed with some effort. Note that the grooved side of the belt mates with the pulley and the flat side runs against the drum. It is also very helpful to have the right snap ring tool because they are very difficult to remove without the proper device both for the fan removal and the drum rollers. I used a Dremel tool with sanding disk to reduce diameter of the pins on my snap ring tool to fit holes in snap rings which worked OK. This is the second repair on this dryer (replacement of heating element & drive belt) and all went well and she is up and running again. Arden L Mohnton , PA August 16, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer DE412 The heating element was broken I ordered the heating element unit which included the the heating element already wired inside of the metal tube. I took out the old heating element unit and reinstalled the new one. I also tested the heating element for conductivity like you suggested to determine why my dryer wasn't heating. The hardest part was to get the metal tube to slide into the opening in the rear of the dryer due to the shape of the metal tube. It took some time and effort to reshape the tube to fit the opening. Jim K Grandville , MI April 19, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer DE212 Lint bypassing screen plugging the duct bad idea; fire hazard! New lint screen and felt seal, new blower seal for good measure. The Maycor adhesive is well worth it....appears to be the same as original OEM used. Our machines are over 30 years old, and both work well, so if yours are still serviceable, the wear items [seals, belts, idler bearings] are worth replacing, I think. Stewart H Pickens , SC October 01, 2018 Appliance: Model MAYTAG DE510 The dryer was overheating I went to the Appliance Parts Pros web sight and searched the trouble shooting section. It said a probable cause is the thermostat. This model has 3 thermostats, but they showed how to check them to see if they are functioning correctly. After checking all 3, I found 2 were working properly and 1 was not. From the diagram on the web sight it was difficult to determine which one I needed. I called customer service, and after a discussion with the very helpful lady, determined which one I needed and put it on order. Four days later I received the thermostat, installed it in 15 minutes, and the dryer now works perfectly !!! My wife thinks I am a genius !! Thank you Appliance Parts Pros for making me look smart and saving a lot of money !!
