Jane S Lynnwood , WA November 01, 2014 Appliance: Jenn-Air Electric Dryer JDE3000W The dryer was making a lot of noise like metal against metal thought it might be the bearings in the support wheels I took the dryer apart.....first had to clean out all the lint here and there. Took the drum out, inspected the belt and back support wheels. They seemed to be fine. In the front the drum turns on two supports that have a Teflon glide. Those two glides had been worn off with their pad so metal was rubbing against metal. Went online to appliancepartspros.com and looked up on the schematic what parts I needed. I also had called around locally and the same parts cost twice as much....so I ordered what I needed. While I have the whole thing apart I decided I would replace the belt and Felt Seal assembly for the front and back. They were very dirty. Christopher P Elgin , SC November 01, 2014 Belt felt seal assembly Removed front wall of dryer, disconnected electrical from wall(first thing). Disconnect front door switch, remove tub, remove felt, clean, used compressed air to blow out all dust from heater assembly. Used compressed air to blow out all lint catch line parts. Used electrical contact cleaner to clean all electrical connections where dust and lint had gathered. Installed new felt pad by first applying high temp adhesive, let adhesive set about a minute or so, install felt. Let sit for about an hour, install new belt and reattach tub. Let sit for a couple of hours to ensure adhesive was fully dry. Read More... 12 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
William F Spring Lake , MI April 29, 2018 Appliance: Model LMC8764A71 ADMIRAL Drum would not turn Opened the top of the dryer and removed the front two screws, lifting the front door up and away from the dryer, placing my arm thru the bottom of the dryer. Pulling back on the belt wheel to remove the tension in the drum belt, probably the most difficult thing in the whole job. Lifting the drum slightly and pulling it toward the front easy, while holding unto the belt. It is not that hard, but make sure you check the support wheels on the back bulkhead to insure they are in good shape, do not oil. Also make sure the drum is not damaged at all, and that it is not out of shape, just repeat the removal backward and your done. Might take about a half-hour if you clean out the dryer vents and inside the bulkhead of the dryer, recommended. The drums are no longer available, so if the drum is damaged, good luck, you might find a used one, but they are expensive online. Not difficult.
