Stephen K Adelphi , MD November 14, 2023 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer MDE9706AYW It was worn out making squealing noises. My dryer was making a squealing noise when operated. In researching the fix, I came upon your website through Google. I found your videos for repairs very good. The videos also told me how well the Maytag dryer is engineered. I purchased some of the parts as preventive maintenance, such as the belt, and tumbler bearing kit. It was a good thing that I bought two felt seals when I did. Both were in terrible condition. I believe my rear felt seal was not installed properly when originally manufactured. The worst part because of the blown felt seals, lint had gotten all over the inside of the dryer. Most of the repair time was spent cleaning up. You are missing the rear seal replacement from your video series. It is better for you to remove the rear bulkhead to replace the rear seal. The second part involves making sure the over-connection end points of the felt seals are really secured. When installing my drum again in the dryer, it knocked the felt seal out of the clamp at the cross-over points. The third part involves making sure both felt seals are outside the drum. When you are reinstalling the front bulkhead on the drum, the felt seals may have gotten inside the drum for both the front and rear seals. BTW, the felt seals should be on the outside of the drum. Don't worry if the felt seal is inside the drum when assembling everything. Take your fingers and run it into and around the gap where the drum rests. You can tell when the felt seal is on the outside the drum and inside the drum. You should be able to poke the felt seal if it is inside the drum to the outside of the drum with your fingers. Do this for both felt seals. Your fingers should be able to go around the gap with no stoppage. At this point, you can tell that the felt seal is in the correct position. Kevin C Wheeling , WV December 19, 2014 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer MDE6200AYW New dryer drum and felt seal After watching the videos online that Appliance Parts Pros provided, I decided to tackle the project myself. It was as simple as removing the door and front cover of the dryer and removing the drum. I then placed a new front seal to the front cover. Appliance Parts Pros made the job so easy. Great tutorial videos, best prices, and the fastest shipping I have seen from an Internet business. Thank you!!! Lee G Powder Springs , GA October 22, 2016 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer MDE6400AYW Brown residue forming where the felt seal was failing on my maytag dryer I ordered the seal from Appliance Parts Pros. I also ordered the dryer drum belt and drum support rollers to do a basic overhaul on my dryer at the same time. I followed the videos online. The videos were generally right on. The only things I wished they pointed out was the difficulty in keeping the felt seal on the outside of the drum as you put the drum back into place. Since I replaced the front and back seals, this was double difficult. However, I got my wife to help and wound up getting the job done. This is a great website and I am a customer for life after this project as well as my first project last year in fixing my washer which first introduced me to this site.
