Scott G Kissimmee , FL January 19, 2018 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer MED6000XG0 Fan wheel damaged Took the whole dryer apart to access the wheels (4) of them, belt and fan wheel, also had to clean all the lint out that somehow builds up inside the dryer. Plus cleaned out dryer duct vent, added to the time involved. If you are planning on fixing the dryer because of a noise which was in my case, I highly recommend buy all the parts for complete maintenance mentioned above. What helped save me time? Robert F Marietta , GA August 27, 2026 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer MED7100DC0 Loud screeching noise when drum is rolling at first it was intermittent over a few weeks became constant Disassembled and cleaned all 4 rollers and the idler roller. Used acetone to clean the axels and insides of the rollers. Cleaned residue with sopropyl alcohol. After reassembling and working for a few days, the noise reappeared. I ordered front and back drum felts and a new idler arm assembly replacing only the latter. The problem persisted. I replaced both drum felt gaskets and cleaned the rear rollers again, and it seems to be working fine. I believe the old and filthy rear gasket was contaminating the rollers. The front seemed okay each time. Note I found references to glue both outside and inside of drum for felt glue-up but just doing the outside dominated. Read More...
