Description

This compressor start device plugs onto the compressor terminals to help it start and run reliably. Replacing a weak start device can restore cooling performance and stop repeated clicking or short-cycling when the compressor tries to start. What it does:

• Provides the initial power path to start the compressor motor
• Works with the overload protector to help safeguard the compressor during high current/overheat conditions
• Fixes: refrigerator not cooling or warming temperatures
• Fixes: rapid clicking from the rear as the compressor attempts to start
• Fixes: compressor starts then stops after a few seconds

Install notes:

• Disconnect power before servicing; pull the unit forward and remove the rear access panel if present
• Note wire orientation; pull the old start device straight off the compressor pins and push the new device on fully in the same orientation
• Ensure all connectors are fully seated and any retainers are secure before restoring power
• If your model uses a separate run capacitor or overload protector, transfer/reconnect those components as originally installed
