Whirlpool WP61005886 Strike, Center OEM Part

With the parts I ordered from you the fix was easy. Take special note in the video in the replacement of the spring. That made it easy. Also I did not have to disconnect the electrical connections. Just rotate the chute assembly for access.

Video is super helpful. Took the covers off and unplugged everything, noticed the doorflap clip was broken on one side and the strike had come detached from the thing that moves it. Put in the new doorflap and re-attached the strike, re-attached the plugs and re-screwed everything easily. One note - we had to remove 15 screws and they were all different, so keep them organized for reassembly.

I replaced the actuator pad as the old one was worn and had lost its springiness. Even after replacing it the problem was still intermittent so I installed a spring inside the pad which solved the problem. As long as I had thing apart I also replaced the door flap and center strike bracket which was partially broken.

I fixed it by removing the cover from the door's ice and water dispenser. I then looked for any broken parts. Then I went online to search for the parts I saw had broken. Appliance Parts Pros had the parts I needed at the lowest prices and lowest shipping options. It's very easy to locate the parts from their online diagrams. BTW, the shipping was lightning fast! No, I'm not a refrigerator tech, although I'm handy with tools. And, no, I have no financial ties with Appliance Parts Pros, I'm just trying to help out fellow do-it-yourselfers...

Two plastic parts were broken. Parts were the lever within the plastic dispencer (called Center Strike), as well as the dispencer housing itself (called the Fountain Bracket). Replacing the two parts has the unit working again. Very reasonable price, and the video on Appliance Parts Pros available to show how the unit was removed/installed (video was specific to spring replacement, but this also shows how the housing is removed).
