The washer is in a rental unit and the tenant complained of no spin. My first intuition was that the coupler failed again because I bought a cheaper one elsewhere a couple of years ago and not the brand name available here at AppliancePartsPros. But we’ll come back to that. Lesson #1: Verify the symptoms firsthand. I dug in right away, popped out the motor and the coupler appeared okay. When I spun it by hand, it turned both the motor and transmission. So I went on to investigate the clutch, transmission, drive basket, etc…all were fine. This was, unfortunately, spread over several trips. So finally put everything back together and put it thru the cycles myself. Sure enough, no spin and no agitate. So I tipped the machine up while in spin to visualize what was happening at the coupler…it was spinning on the transmission input shaft. Ugh. Lesson #2: the simplest explanation is usually the best. After then ordering a coupler, was in and out in 20 minutes. Problem solved. Lesson #3: trust intuition. If I followed my intuition, I could have been done in one trip by preordering a coupler.
