Pierre C Blacksburg , VA March 31, 2015 Cook top jennair one control has a short cut because of water I looked on the web firs and saw that it might be a common problem and found quickly the culprit. The switch that control the element has a short cut. I learned from the web that it cost about $50 to replace the switch so I order it and got it quickly. The fun part is to access this part! You have to disconnect the cook top (electricity and vent) Then you have to remove the heavy top and be careful not to break it. From there you put it upside down and remove the part by observing attentively were the wire are plug into. So it is fairly easy to re-connect the new one. As I am not an expert I simply disconnected one wire at a time and re-connect one new at a time. (I also took a picture of the use part while it was connected... just in case) Then I put everything back in place, it took me a bit more than 90 minutes but I did it slowly. I also replaced the sealer under the cook top but a ticker one (rubber instead of synthetic) The cook top is 2 millimeters higher but it works fine. Nathan D Aberdeen , NJ September 02, 2016 Appliance: Jenn-Air Electric Downdraft Surface Unit JED8430ADB Short in switch blew breaker The hardest part was identifying the proper switch to order. The switch arrived in two days and was a little larger than the original, but fit.. I disconnected power cable because there was not enough slack to lift the cooktop above the counter. I removed the screws holding on the ceramic top and the screws holding the switch bracket. I photographed the connections to the switch. The terminals on the new switch were labeled but in different places than on the original. Pushed the connectors on the terminals and buttoned everything up. Works like new. Larry T Spokane , WA January 21, 2019 I got water in the switch! I ordered a new Switch, Infinite. I selected one day service since we really wanted the cooktop fixed right away. The part arrived the next day and was the exact same switch I needed. The repair was very easy once I unhooked everything and lifted the unit out. I did take too many of the screws out since I wasn't sure which screws held the top on, but on assembly all the screws were used and the cooktop is back working as before. Read More...
