Whirlpool W10820036 Door Switch OEM Part

The lid shut-off switch is located behind the lid How About That. I order the plastic ball the hold the lid in place plus the lid shut off switch. I watched the video that AppliancePartsPros.com has on how to replace the lid and the plastic balls. I removed the lid to get to the two philips head screws to remove that part of the shut-off switch. I took the new switch out of the package and compared it to the old switch. I assembled the switch just like the old switch look using the new spring. Using the two phillips head screws I replaced that part of the switch back into the washer top. I am sorry I skipped a step or two which I will tell you now. To get to the lid shut-off switch first you have to take off the front panel by taking out two screws that are located at the bottom of the front panel in the indention of the panel. Then there is two screws in the front corners of the inside side panels that hold the whole top down; remove those. With the lid already off you can raise the top and hold the shut-off switch while taking out the two screws that hold it into the washer top. Screw new switch in top. Put top down; screw in two corner screws to hold top down; put lid back on washer by putting one plastic ball in the dimples on one side of lid. Keeping that ball in place put the other plastic ball in the dimple on the door and squeeze ball door down till ball goes into the other dimple. Try the washer out to make sure switch works correctly before putting front panel back on.

Installed a new switch-lid assembly. Once put back together and 4 loads of laundry later....it is back up and running!!!

I replaced the timer, and the problem was solved. The only problem I had was the screw holes in the new timer would not accept the screws from the old timer, so I used self tapping screws. Otherwise, a straightforward fix and fairly easy to do.
