German P Miami , FL January 23, 2018 Appliance: KitchenAid 48" Built In Refrigerator KSSC48QMS00 Evaporator coil inside freezer kept freezing over every couple of days Well with a lot of help from the world wide web and my friends from AppliancePartsPros.com, I was able to determine the source of the problem, which was the defrost thermostat. However, due to the disassembly involved to get to it, I decide to also change a couple of other parts involved in the defrost process, which are also located in the same compartment as the defrost thermostat. These parts were the thermistor and the defrost heater. Thanks to AppliancePartsPros.com, they had the parts I needed in stock and rushed them out to me the next business day. I swapped out the parts in about an hour and the fridge was back in business in no time, running like new ever since. My next order of business with this refrigerator is replacing both door gaskets. Harold T League City , TX May 13, 2017 Appliance: KitchenAid 42" Built In Refrigerator KSSC42FMS03 Kitchenaid side x side refrigerator/frez would not keep a constant temp on refrig/frez sides would trip over temp control would vary from 10 20 degrees Called ApplianceParts about Thermistor, which KitchenAid told me could be the problem. Of coarse KitchenAid could not furnish the part. Talked to sales rep Johnny, asking if they had this particular part. He confirmed the part being in stock and available for shipping. Johnny also confirmed the correct p/n for the model of my refrig. So I decided to go with it, my first order with ApplianceParts. Johnny also convinced me to order a coil cleaning brush which was on sale at the time, which made a lot of sense now that I think about it. Shipping took about 3 days. Received the part and had install in less than 15 minutes. The cost of the Thermistor was less than $30, I had used a local repair service numerous times at a charge of $400-500 each trip. Thanks to ApplianceParts "No More". Great job JOHNNY !!!! Read More... 5 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers
Gerard F Honolulu , HI September 02, 2022 Appliance: KitchenAid 48" Built In Refrigerator KSSS48FTX04 The freezer cold but refrigerator too warm. First I did the obvious: Changed the evaporator fan motor and condenser fan motor. Then I realized there was too little air flow from the freezer to the refrigerator, so I replaced the air baffle assembly. Now everything works again. This should have been a piece of cake, but in the 48" Kitchenaid side-by-side built-in, the baffle assembly is mounted on the side wall of the refrigerator rather than the back wall as the video showed. That means the hole for the rear of the two screws holding the assembly is not directly visible; you have to use a mirror to see the bottom. The hole the screw goes into is too deep to hold the nut with your fingers. Since I didn't have a magnetic nut driver, I attached the nut to the driver socket using a dollop of rubber cement. That way the screw stayed horizontal while I felt around for the hole to screw it into. Once secure, a quick jerk broke the rubber cement. I cleaned off the screw head with a Q-tip. Read More...
