Roger E Sellersburg , IN March 16, 2020 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer PYE4558AYW Dryer was running very hot Ultimately, the cycling thermostat appeared to be causing the problem. Although testing it did not reveal any issues, replacing it resolved the problem. I had tried the high limit thermostat which did not resolve the overheating issue. While I was at it, I replaced the heating element as it was showing its age (dryer is about 25 years old) but it tested OK. Wife satisfaction factor is highly increased now! Christopher G Kokomo , IN January 15, 2021 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer PYE3200AYW No power to dryer after getting too hot Replaced the belt and heater element because they were worn, but still functioning. Replaced the thermal fuse by the heater element because it was showing open on a meter. Replaced the tstat cycle because it was working improperly. Everything except for the thermal fuse tested properly for continuity. I imagine that the t stat cycle was not shutting off when it was supposed to causing the heater element to keep getting hotter even when desired heat was reached.
