.gil P Enumclaw , WA March 29, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Gas Dryer MGDB400VQ0 My maytag gas dryer would start and the the tumbler rotate but the igniter would not glow and flame not start The 2 sensors that sit on top of the flame tube work together. The Thrmst F should check closed, as should the Cutoff-TML, in order for power to flow to the ignitor. If the Cutoff is open, it is usually because the Thrmst-F did not open soon enough. The Thermst-F will cycle, closed to open, and repeat, however the Cutoff-HTML is a one time switch. If it opens it will not return to closed, and subsequently the ignitor will not glow. Some professionals say that if one of these sensors fail, both should be replaced. Even though the Thermst-F may check closed, it needs to open at around 275 degress, and close at it cools. If it fails to close, the back-up (Cutoff-HTML) will open and is not designed to close again. Douglas R Long Valley , NJ January 15, 2018 Appliance: Maytag Gas Dryer MGDB850WQ0 Dryer had no heat but spun okay The thermal cutoff showed no continuity so it had to be replaced. Based on other comments here, I also replaced the thermostat since that may have been the cause of the thermal cutoff failing. The video provided here by Appliance Parts Pros was invaluable in helping me take apart the dryer and locating the bad parts. The video showed my exact dryer, how to take it apart, and how to test and replace the parts. Awesome! Read More...
