Description
This temperature-sensitive switch controls the automatic defrost cycle. It opens to shut off the defrost heater when the evaporator warms to a safe level, protecting components and helping your refrigerator maintain consistent, frost-free cooling. What it does:
- Senses evaporator coil temperature during the defrost cycle
- Opens to cut power to the defrost heater at its calibrated limit; recloses when the coil cools
- Helps prevent overheating and supports proper automatic defrost operation
- Typical symptoms include heavy frost on the evaporator/freezer, poor cooling or a warm fresh-food section, the unit running constantly, or the defrost heater not cycling

- Mount the thermostat in the same location/orientation as the original; transfer/reuse any mounting clip or insulation
