Michael F Park Hill , OK May 22, 2015 Appliance: Whirlpool Refrigerator ET8CHMXKQ06 Whirlpool top freezer refrigerator had intermittent cooling The refrigerator would fail to restart after running normally for anywhere from a few hours to a day or two. I could manually restart it by turning the theostat off then back on or by pecking the thermostat knob lightly. I ordered a replacement thermostat on Monday morning and received the part the next day. After replacing the thermostat, the refrigerator has worked just fine. Dennis H Many , LA December 15, 2015 Appliance: Whirlpool Refrigerator ET8MTMXKQ00 My refrigerator stopped cooling i could turn the cold knob off and back on and it would cool until it cycled off I used the model number to find the thermostat cold control switch on Appliance Parts Pro's web site and ordered the part. I had to remove a bracket that was on the new control unit because it was not correct. The switch was correct but the bracket and the sensor were different compared to the original control switch. The cover housing that held the switch was retained by one screw that I removed with a 1/4 nut driver. The cover was hinged at the other end allowing me to remove the old switch while the wiring and a control board stayed in place. I installed the switch after removing the bracket just as the original switch was. I attached the original knob that was removed from the old switch. I plugged the refrigerator in after the screw was put back in the cover and tightened lightly. The refrigerator came on immediately and is cooling like it should. It was a fairly easy repair other than removing the old Defrost Timer. The way the manufacturer, in this case, Amana, mounts that unit with "clips" is just poor design and engineering. It is virtually impossible to get the timer out without damaging the mounts. I had to do some creative rework to mount the new timer. After 2 days, the fridge appears to be working properly with these new parts. The new parts were shipped Very Fast...APP is an excellent company!
