Description
This cold control thermostat regulates your refrigerator's temperature by cycling cooling on and off based on air temperature at the sensing bulb. Replacing a worn control restores accurate settings and consistent cooling performance. What it does:
- Monitors compartment temperature via a capillary sensing bulb
- Opens/closes electrical contacts to start and stop the compressor (and related cooling circuits)
- Helps maintain the temperature you set on the control dial
- Failure symptoms include: unit too warm or too cold, runs continuously, won't start until the knob is moved/tapped, or erratic temperature swings
What's included:
Install notes:
- Disconnect power before servicing; wear cut-resistant gloves
- Note wire positions or take a photo; transfer the dial/shaft and any mounting hardware from the old control if reused
- Route the capillary bulb exactly as original; do not kink, pinch, or cut it; secure with existing clips
- After install, set to a mid setting and allow up to 24 hours for temperatures to stabilize
