At first I thought the clutch (or related parts) had worn out, but by chance, I pulled on the timer knob, and the machine started spinning. When I let it go, it stopped. So clearly the spinning part worked. Then I watched a few videos about repairing a bad timer and determined that it was the likely culprit. I ordered the part. It was very simple to replace. And it worked perfectly. Saved me hundreds either in buying a new machine or in having it repaired by someone. This is truly a simple repair and I would encourage anyone with basic repair skills to take it on!
