Larry K Wauconda , IL June 26, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Gas Dryer MGDC200XW2 Maytag gas dryer wasn't drying and sometimes the heat would not come on at all Looking through the small sight window at the front bottom left, I saw the igniter glow orange and the blue gas flame come on. After about 1 minute, the flame went out. After another couple of minutes, the cycle would happen again. Sometimes the igniter would not come on at all. I took the front off the dryer and checked continuity on the igniter, flame sensor, and coils that operate the gas valve. All were ok. So I thought one of the safety switches was probably bad. I put the front of the dryer together and took off the back. All the safety switches checked out ok (they all had continuity). I didn't know what else to do but then I found a piece of paper folded up and taped inside the top section where the timer and controls are. The paper was a schematic of the whole dryer. At the top of the sheet was a chart which showed exactly which wires should connect to which other wires at each position of the timer. So I check for continuity at each timer position and discovered that the wire to the gas valve did not get any power. I ordered the timer from AppliancePartsPros.com. It arrived in ONE DAY! I replaced it and the dryer has worked perfectly ever since. James M Doylestown , PA December 26, 2015 Appliance: Model MGDC200XW3 My gas dryer was running but not heating up After testing the thermal fuse, thermostats, and igniter for continuity, I found out that the timer wasn't working properly. It was sending power to the motor, but not to the "heating side" of the dryer. So, I ordered a new timer. Once my new timer arrived, I removed the upper, back panel of the dryer to gain access to the broken timer. I disconnected the wires and wire harnesses from the broken timer. Removed the two screws that were holding the timer in place, and removed the broken timer. I then installed the new timer, placed the two screws back in place, reconnected the wires, and put the upper, back panel in place. I plugged the dryer in and started it up, The dryer was now heating. Success! Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers
