Whirlpool WP8523173 Side Trim OEM Part

Primarily, removed oven door. Be cognizant of how you disassembled ... Very important when you reassemble ! By-the-way,this was ALL PRECIPITATED by wanting to clean the interior side of oven door glass after my wife self-cleaned the oven! How in-the-world did grease get there in the first place!? While disassembling door, after removing from body of oven , the right side trim piece (being Very brittle) Broke ! Than, due to the same reason, the left side trim piece Broke ! Yippee ! That will make an even $72 ! VERY IMPORTANT !!!!!!!! WHEN REASSEMBLING , MAKE SURE SIDE TRIM PIECES GO ON THE INSIDE OF EXTERIOR GLASS PLATE !!!!!! Good Luck!

The hardest part of this repair was a) realizing that the easiest way to clean the oven door pieces is to remove the whole door and b) figuring out how to put the oven door back on. Doing (b) is infinitely easier if you stick two allen wrenches into the holes in the door hinge, but these holes ONLY appear when the door is fully open. Prop the hinges open BEFORE you remove the door. As many posters online will tell you, it is easy to remove the oven door but hard to put it back on. It is easily lifted out when the door it in the almost-closed position. However, it is not easy to put it back in because the hinges are strong and have to be propped open. Lock the hinges open all the way BEFORE removing the door. Replacing the trim takes 15 minutes if you know how to do it. It took me 24 hours to figure that out. I hesitated to spend almost $100 on these three trim pieces, but it was worth it. Along with cleaning the other parts, the oven now looks new. P.S. The first bottom trim piece I received was bent, but Appllance Parts Pros replaced it quickly and without hassle.

I'm pretty handy with DIY projects but when it comes to one I've never done, I like a little coaching. I followed appliance parts pro YouTube video which made it a breeze. I had my son helping as I didn't want to break the glass. I made sure all the pieces of glass from the old panel were cleaned out (even did some spring cleaning on oven while it was dismantled). New panel slid in easily, put the top bracket back on a voila oven was fixed. All it took was a screwdriver and about 15 mins.
