Paul S Rochester , NY June 23, 2014 The "spider assembly" on the inner tube broke from corrosion this caused the inner tub to rub against the outer front tub The main problem was fixing the inner tub. The "Spider Assembly" is attached with six screws, but the manufacture does not supply this as an individual part. This is good since the manufacture has a lifetime warranty in the inner tub. The manufacture supplied the inner tub. I purchased the outer front tub from Appliance Parts Pro. A fair price and excellent delivery time provided me with a quick up and run time to complete this repair. Barton P Malta , NY April 10, 2016 Appliance: Whirlpool Washer - Direct Drive GHW9100LW1 Failed spider after 13 years We spotted plastic in the washed clothes. Stainless drum had made contact with front outer drum. Watched Simon do the tear down on the Whirlpool Duet. Diagnosis? Corroded spider. Whirlpool shipped new inner drum/spider under lifetime warranty. Ordered new front outer drum from Appliance Parts Pros. Replaced bearings in rear outer tub even though the originals were in good shape (as a precaution). Reassembled washer, tested and returned washer to service. This is a pretty easy jo if you have some machanical aptitude and can follow direction. Simon's tutorial was very helpful and kudos to the cameraman who shot a lot of detailed video! Cost of repair - $$350.00 (with bearings/seal). Cost to replace $1150.00+ (with new pedestal as the old one wouldn't work with new machine). Savings, about $800.00. Bonus, less trash in the landfill! Christopher S Xenia , OH December 20, 2015 My whirlpool duet washing machine's spider arms had broken bc of this the stainless drum was rotating in an oblong pattern thus damaging the front part of the two piece plastic outer drum I ordered the front half of the outer drum from PartsPros.com and, after replacing the stainless drum, replace the damaged front half of the outer drum with my replacement part from your company. The piece fit perfectly and a few hours later I was doing laundry again. Alliance Parts Pro supplied the outer drum and expert video that allowed me to do the repair. This was almost a complete tear down of the washer and the video made it easy. It took me about 2 hours.
