David A Clermont , FL February 21, 2015 Appliance: Whirlpool Washer WTW5550XW3 Plastic rim melted by washer being filled to deep Replaced the RING TUB - CAUTION - be careful when the top of the washer is removed ( 2 screws at the rear and pushed forward to release) because the bare steel plates under the top portion are VERY sharp, I used thick rubber gloves and ran a thick wad of sandpaper round all the sharp edges before I started to replace the ring. If you don't you stand a very good chance of a severe cut. The Ring Tub is released by 8 latches round the outer edge. The replacement simply pushes on - make sure they ALL snap into place. Steve P West Falls , NY December 22, 2019 Cycle stopped at start of spin cycle, loud clicking and blinking lights. Replaced shift actuator and checked components over for wear which led me to replace the tub ring. Wanted to replace the tub seal but it wasn’t shipped with my order. I would consider myself very handy so the project was pretty easy. Everything was accessible and I didn’t require special tools. Tub seal looked like it was just pressed in but I didn’t get to replace it because my order was messed up, but looking at it didn’t seem like it would be difficult. Read More...
