Whirlpool WP12544002 Primary Water Inlet Valve OEM Part

Replaced both primary and secondary water valves to make sure I fixed the problem. Both valves have to open when you function the water dispenser and when the ice maker tray needs refilling. YouTube video was a great help and let me know that I had to lengthen one hose. The video showed me the exact parts I needed to lengthen the hose. YouTube video also let me know that I had needed to transfer the internal springs in the hoses when I cut the old connections off. Never would have known that.

I found a puddle of water under the refrigerator and traced the leak to the where the water inlet hose connects to the water valve. Although the videos I viewed did not address our specific refrigerator they were similar enough to mine that I felt confident I could replace the valve and hose without much trouble. I also went through enough of the steps for removal before I ordered the part that I knew I could perform the work. The part arrived quickly and I was able to do the work in 15 minutes. So far, no problems!

Purchased new valve

Read a lot of online stories and determine the most likely cause was from a water inlet valve. Watched the helpful videos and ordered the parts (elected to replace both primary and secondary valves at the same time while working back there). Parts arrived on time, they were the right parts. So far no water leak! We are excited to get ice for the first time this year! Great experience and I will look here first for all our future part needs.

Ordered primary and secondary water inlet valves. Swapped out the old for the new in less than 30 minutes. Easy. Got back water and ice and lost that funny freaking noise that must have been one of the failed valves.
