Ronald W Atlanta , GA January 05, 2016 Appliance: Amana Refrigerator SZD23VE Refrigerator was leaking water on the floor I removed a lower rear cover panel to expose the workings of the water supply area and checked all line fittings to confirm that they were tight then I determined that the secondary water valve was leaking when activated. These electromagnet valves open each time that the water or ice dispensers or the ice maker functions are activated and they can fail after several years of constant use. My refrigerator is 15 years old and I was concerned that the replacement part would be difficult to locate; however, the ApplianceParts.com website helped me quickly pinpoint the replacement valve and confirmed that it was appropriate for my refrigerator model. The videos and directions on the site are great. When you take off the wires watch which wire (white or colored) goes in which direction. Also, when I pushed the valves in, I kinked a tube. A kinked tube, just like a kinked garden hose, does not flow. So I ended up having to take it apart again trying to find the problem and that's when I found the link and had to cut it out and it worked great after that. James E Lemont , IL July 24, 2014 Appliance: Model KENMORE 596.58695890 Refrigerator would not dispense water or make ice Through some limited diagnosis I initially assumed it was the water filter bypass assembly, so I ordered that part and replaced it. When that didn't fix the problem I consulted the Samurai Appliance repair forums, and it was there I learned it was most likely the Secondary Water Valve. Ordered the part from Appliance Parts Pros, received it very quickly, installed it, and refrigerator is now working great. I now only need to return the bypass assembly, but I have no doubt that will be a breeze since Appliance Parts Pros has an awesome 365-day return policy. Read More...
