This is a plastic hose connector used to attach the washer drain hose to the drain system or laundry center plumbing. It ensures a secure, leak-free connection between the drain hose and the standpipe or drain outlet. Replace this connector if you notice water leaking at the drain hose junction or if the connector is cracked, warped, or no longer holds the hose firmly in place.
A plumbing supply store found the part on the internet with a Whirlpool part #. I found that number on the website of another parts supplier (Appliance Zone) but it did not have a picture of the part. It was called a gas connector, and I ordered the part.
