There are multiple uses for the 5/16-18 Hex Screw. It is often used with small gasoline-powered yard equipment such as lawn and garden machines. This variety of screw is commonly used in attaching the various appendages of gas-powered equipment to a central operating platform. In particular, these hex screws are used to secure the engine block of power tools to the frame or housing of the equipment.
