This throttle housing & trigger assembly is a genuine MTD replacement part for a handheld gas lawn trimmer. A lawn trimmer is designed to cut grass, shrubs, bushes, and weeds. The throttle housing & trigger assembly is a kit containing a black plastic throttle housing, a trigger, a spring, and the screws to bind the pieces together. The function of a throttle housing is to house the throttle for the lawn trimmer, which spins the blades at specific velocities, with a full throttle corresponding to full blade velocity. The trigger assembly consists of the trigger itself, the hammer, the disconnector, and the springs, and the function of the trigger is to activate the engine, thereby engaging the throttle.In order to replace the throttle housing, the engine must not be running and the oil should be emptied from the tank. If the throttle housing & trigger assembly is damaged to the point that the lawn trimmer is unusable, the throttle housing & trigger assembly should be removed and replaced immediately. Remember to always wear gloves when handling, repairing, and operating outdoor equipment.
