Monica for Model Number RDF30QB PRIOR TO S/N 9708 We have one non-igniting ignition head and I ordered a new part from you. Installation is a problem, since at least one of the venturies does not want to turn. Since the hexagonal top of the exposed venturi is fairly shallow most commercial available sockets tend to slip off due to the tapered section on the inside of sockets. I ground down a 20 mm hexagonal socket to maximize the overlap between socket and venturi hex top but even with max force applied to the end of the socket wrench handle it does not want to come off. I happens that the venturi for the burner with the bad ignitor did come off easily and I removed the aluminum base as well. This allowed me to look at the venturi assembly and it looks like it needs to be simply pulled out (upwards) and a new one installed from above. Pulling it out without a dedicated tool is hard. Is it indeed needed to remove the entire top of the stove or can the ignitor be replaced directly from the top? If so, what tool do I need? Please advise how to proceed.
Answer Monica, You would need to remove all the burners and top in order to change out the igniters. Try using a pair of duck bill pliers and something to go in between the handles for leverage. You may need to light that burner to heat the venturi in order to get it to loosen. Stick the duck bill pliers in and insert device between the handles and turn the pliers with the device you put between the handles. Read More...
