Harry for Model Number Thermador Cooktop SGC304RS One of my gas burners won't ignite. I can light it with a match, though, so I know that the gas is flowing. My guess is that the ignition plug assembly isn't working. I can pull it straight up; it is connected by some kind of wire. But everyone says that you cannot replace that part from above the cooktop. Why not? Thanks!
Answer Harry, In most cases the igniter is not the issue with the unit not igniting. You will want to check to make sure that the burner is clean as this can stop the igniter from sparking. Also check the ignition switches on the burner valve to make sure that they have continuity in the light position. If not then this would be the cause. If the switches check ok then the spark module or wiring between the igniter and spark module will be the issue. As for changing the igniter there is normally a clip under it that will keep it from coming out and this is why you have to disassemble the unit to get it out. Read More...
