David for Model Number Thermador SGCV36G The front right burner of my Thermador cooktop intermittently continues to spark even after the burner has successfully ignited. This sparking continues for 10 to 30 seconds and then stops. Once the repeated ignitor sparking has ceased, if I turn off the burner and immediately turn it back on again the problem does not recur, but if I let the burner cool down for a couple of hours and turn it on again the problem is again present. Spraying a small amount of electrical contact cleaner on the ignition plug often cures the problem for a day or so, but then the problem comes back. I had my spark module replaced a couple of years ago, but this hasn't solved the problem. Faulty ignition head? Is BSH-00189324 the correct part to order?
Answer David, it would be recommended that the burner head is thoroughly cleaned. Food residues can accumulate and increase the resistance, preventing a proper spark which can cause the ignitor to either not spark or spark continuously until enough of the resistance has weakened.
