David M. for Model Number Kitchenaid KSSM48QS01 Ice won't dispense when I push the dispenser lever with a cup, even with force all the way to the back. If I pull the cup away and reach in to grab the ice door with my hand before the delay plunger allows it to close fully, and then pull the door all the way open (towards me), then push the lever with the cup, ice will dispense. I've taken off the dispenser cover to see what is going on and it looks like when I push a cup against the dispenser lever, the upper portion of the lever doesn't quite push the micro-switch on. However, when you move the door fully open by hand, then push the lever (lower part), the upper part does reach and fully engage the micro-switch. If I push the back of the micro-switches and then push the dispenser lever with a cup, the upper part does engage the micro-switches. I suppose I could shim the back of the micro-switches to push them forward a bit, or build up the upper part of the lever that contacts the micro-switches with tape or something like that, but this seems "kludgey". Why doesn't the upper part of the lever fully depress the micro-switches when the lower part is pushed? What parts need to be replaced? I don't seem to have a "broken tab" issue, but I couldn't really tell without taking everything apart. Thanks
Answer Hello David, While it sounds like you probably have a part that is malformed causing your issue, I'm sorry but we will need to ask you to please post a new question including the verified model number from the units' I.D. tag since it will not come up for us as a valid model number. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Saturday, June 24, 2017
