Pete for Model Number GE GUD27ESSJWW Diffuser Loose? The three bolts on our dryer diffuser keep coming loose. Twice, one has popped out into the clothes while the other two bolts remain but were very loose. The dryer made a loud thumping sound from the diffuser vibrating. So far this has happened twice since a maintenance man from our building vacuumed the dryer and exhaust vents. Could he have dislodged or broken something inside behind the diffuser? I've tightened them pretty snug but not super tight in fear of stripping them. Should they be extremely tight? Thank you
Answer Hello Pete, You will need to order the rear drum bearing kit WE25M40 and replace the screws along with the rear bearing since this is the part with the threaded holes. Be sure to use the proper screwdriver tip when tightening. Also, check the front bearing assembly for wear. If it is worn excessively, this will allow the heating element to contact the rear of the drum and cause the screws to loosen. Read More...
