Matt for Model Number GEDBXR453ET2WW My dryer kept stopping after a few minutes, and it seemed to get really hot and smell like burning rubber. But it would start back up after a short cool down. But now it won't keep running unless I keep the knob on start; however, it doesn't seem to be getting as hot or shutting down. What part keeps the motor running AND could cause it to overheat and shutdown? Or does it sound like two separate things?
Answer Hello Matt. The motor switch in the motor causes the motor to continue to run. If the motor does not run, unless the start switch is held down, you will need to replace the motor WE17X10010 in the unit. Also, if the motor overheats, and then shuts off, and needs to be cooled to restart, this is a sign of the motor as well. The heating issue can be caused by the motor as well, if the switch is failing in the unit. Hope this helps. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, March 26, 2012
