Wayne for Model Number gsd6900j10ww The timer display works fine. The touch board to operate the washer works except for the start button. All the other lights work. The unit will not start after pushing appropriate buttons. At first the start button was troublesome, now it does not work at all. It appears as if steam got into the buttons on the front at one time since there is actually black discoloration on the start button. Should I replace the button curved panel assembly?
Answer Hello Wayne, You should clean the ribbon cable connections with a dry pencil eraser by rubbing only in the direction toward the end of the ribbon cable. This prevents damage to the ribbon cable. If this doesn't correct the issue you may have to replace the control panel WD34X10973 or the control module WD21X10463. In either case, you should replace any gaskets that have water trails visible with a flashlight from the side. This is an indication of a seal loss and will allow moisture back into the electrical control area and cause the problem to reoccur. Read More...
