Denise for Model Number Caloric RST308UK I have a burner that will not light without putting lighter to it. The ignitor on the gas burner is good. Problem is that even when the ignitor is not connected, when another burner is turned on, the wire connector itself is sparking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Answer Hello Denise, This sounds like you have lost ground to the burner base. The wire to the ignitor should be left connected to prevent a fire issue. The burner base of each surface burner should be removed and pieces down to the chassis removed. When these pieces are reinstalled, the metal pieces should be sanded lightly to re-establish electrical contact between the parts. This will provide ground to the burner base so the ignitor will have a complete circuit and the spark will exist to ignite the gas. While in the cooktop it is not a bad idea to use a safety pin or small paper clip to clear the gas orifices since spills can clog or partially clog them over time. Read More...
