Dee W for Model Number jgp975sek2ss My cooktop is about 3 years old. Recently, the sparking unit won't stop sparking, even after the burner is lit. The only way to stop the sparking was to pull the power on the unit. Now we use a match to light the gas. Is there a way to "unstick" the sparking? Or do we need a new spark unit? Or do we need some other repair part?
Answer Dee, A couple of things to check first. Make sure all the burner caps are on the correct burner, and instaled properly, and that the burner base(s) and area are clean. remove the burner knobs and insure the switches move with the shaft of the valve. If you did not have any spill overs or excess water in the cleaning procedure, then replace the spark module. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
