John Black for Model Number gss25sgre ss I have a GE side-by-side (gss25sgress). The water and ice do not come out of the dispenser. The funnel does not spring back when pushed. I had someone come out and look at it. They said the spring was gone and that the only way to fix this model is to replace the entire door. Is this true? I would not think that a missing or broken spring would cause the entire door to be replace. Thanks, John
Answer Hello John, From my diagram I show parts available as long as a part of the door itself isn't broken. The parts are shown on the link you had open. The parts that will probably be needed are the door recess crank WR17X10706, the recess door spring WR02X10585, and the ice dispense funnel WR17X11267. Since I can't see the unit from here I cannot tell you what else is needed, but i can tell you that as long as the ice door is staying open you should block the opening with a washcloth to prevent a major frost build-up. Any frost that may have built up already should be removed with a hot washcloth. Do not use a hair dryer as it will get hot enough to malform the plastic. This will cause you to need to replace the door assembly. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Friday, March 30, 2012
